First EU Anti-Poverty Strategy enters public consultation phase
The European Commission has launched the process to seek views on the upcoming EU Anti-Poverty Strategy, the first of its kind at EU level. The strategy will aim to provide essential protection to people and tackle the root causes of poverty.
The Commission is calling on citizens, experts and organisations to help shape the EU's first Anti-Poverty Strategy, now open for public consultation. The strategy, which will be presented next year, aims to provide essential protection to people that need it the most and tackle the root causes of poverty.
It will also play a pivotal role in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights, as the EU strives to reduce the number of people at risk of poverty by at least 15 million by 2030.
The strategy forms part of the Commission's wider commitment to tackling poverty and supporting social inclusion.
Both the public consultation and the call for evidence will remain open for 14 weeks, until 24 October 2025.
